A few months ago my roommate asked if I could zhuzh up their old laptop. It was old enough I was still able to open it up, add some ram, switch to a tb SSD, better network card. I slapped mint on their too. Their first experience with Linux and after showing them some really basic terminal commands I’ve never had them ask for help since. It just works
A lot of ovens have convection heating now. You can go from opening the freezer to eating an entire pizza in under 20 minutes, dirty only a cutting board and knife, and the hardest step is remembering to set an alarm
Also some hobbies can help in all kinds of ways! Harmonica for mouth control, rock climbing for finger strength and endurance, Rubik’s cube for finger dexterity, that kind of stuff

One of my favorite campaigns I was a tempest cleric dwarf in a sea campaign. She came from a clan of dwarves that would take longboats along river coasts downstream from a mother clan’s mountain mining to find pockets of washed down minerals. It was so fun and eventually she started her own seafaring clan the Sundersalt. We were based on an island but controlled a lot of trade in the area with ships modeled after Korean turtle ships

I was generally planning on switching once windows 10 died but being on Lemmy helped convince me to not only switch earlier, but also I just dove right in with arch. I’d say it was like 2/3 Lemmy and 1/3 Proton that made me switch not because I felt I needed to but because I was actually excited to
