my whole point is that you should install the game twice if you play it on both since launching on windows can cause issues with proton working for some reason, obviously anyone should keep games they have on the performant filesystem and ntfs is not preferred i dont use it on anything but the windows drive but thats not what the reddit post was even saying they were doing.

if i could pin this i would i never had that problem cuz i never did that but thats pretty funny idk anything about the windows_names option though like you just set that option it doesnt have a variable or anything?

i dont think it really is that, the games should still work fine if they dont access the same appdata. They would just use steam cloud saves. Windows steam does something fucky that stops the launching of the game entirely

lol i agree trust me thats why i did the same thing except for bcache with xfs, i wouldnt get gaming errors but i switched after having windows mounting the drive make it unmountable without a fsck that shit pmo never been happier not dealing with that shitty filesystem

i only ever did when trying vr games on linux vs windows but after getting that error i just never bothered again too much hassle i would get rid of my dualboot but im paranoid of the rare occasion when i need it to help friends or do some sort of weird windows specific shit even though it never happens and is honestly a waste of storage

you compared a tesla to a Lamborghini… and were complaining that chinese evs selling well doesn’t mean theyre better than teslas when objectively many of these cars have a bunch of reasons that they are reviewed better than teslas. You using the stock market to act like teslas are some gold standard has some pretty big importance as to why it matters to bring up Elon Musk and government subsidies, because tesla wouldn’t have that valuation at all without those realities.

it really is yea, even if most didnt work if at least networking and cpu/gpu support works i wouldve gone for it

yea thats the only reason why i think getting a cheap old computer really isnt worth it, youll be charged more in power by way more and way faster compared to a phone that just sips power or a pi etc
