  • Honestly, my main resources were the CTO at my company, as well as our existing custom modules so if you’re using OCA modules as a reference you’re already on the right path. If you’ve got any specific questions you can ask me, or I can try to think of what the common pitfalls are that I’ve seen that aren’t really well documented.

You can also contract me as a consultant but if you’ve got 20 years of dev experience I’m assuming you aren’t very interested.

Do you have access to the Enterprise codebase? That would also be helpful if you’re running enterprise modules

  • Talking to women and talking to women you want to date are slightly different things tbh. The latter doesn’t necessarily come naturally for all.

And online, it gets even harder oftentimes. Creating a captivating conversation out of an empty bio, two generic photos and a name? That’s still damn difficult for me and I’ve been on tinder for like 4 years out of the last 8. Obviously it’s easier if the conversational partner throws you a bone. OOP didn’t exactly have a great opener to begin with and then was given a “tyyy”. Try riffing on that. Good luck. I can see why OOP gave up on the conversation.

Online “dating” sucks. I’m sure women have their own reasons why it sucks (safety in particular), but for men it sucks because generally speaking, you’re expected to prove yourself as an interesting conversational partner within 2-3 messages. Even on Bumble it’s the same, as seen in the screenshot. Women have to write first there, but usually it’s just “hi” or an emoji.

So I also don’t know how to talk to women. I have female friends. I’m not an incel, I’ve had a couple of long-term relationships and some, eh, situationships I guess? Even some with people I met on dating apps. Meet me in person? We’re staying awake talking until 5 AM. Actually give me something to riff about in your bio or at least reply to me with more than one word? We’re at the very least going to have a fun conversation, maybe meet in real life. But give me an empty bio and one word replies? I’m sorry, but I just don’t know how to talk to you.

  • I mean I can’t see what the comment was and I’m assuming it must’ve been downright hateful, but that person almost certainly has learned a foreign language just to communicate with the world and in fact had to learn another foreign language in school because their name is Estonian for “gypsy” and learning two foreign languages (usually English and Russian, sometimes German or something else for the second foreign language) is required. Likely they speak 2.5 languages as is common here (my German is so bad I count it as half a language - native speakers speak too fast for me, but I can kinda get my point across if needed), but could be more.

Just pointing out that even when trying to be accepting of others, subtle anglo-defaultism can show up in your comment, not that I necessarily agree with whatever the comment was.

Probably. Used to be a lot more organic content. In all honesty, the fediverse is a bit better than modern reddit in that regard.

Actually I’ve discovered at least 3 people who post their own comics here. So that’s pretty cool. Custardfist, bad and noerdman. Never would’ve discovered them otherwise.

Useless, it’ll never take off. Normies don’t want to have to pick an instance to get started. They’ll just go to reddit or Bluesky. Then there’s the tankie problem. Hexbear and ml are going to scare away those who can figure out how to pick an instance and register.

Oh and since everything is duplicated on hundreds of servers, it’s wasteful of resources to. Worried about SSD prices going up? Well the fediverse ain’t gonna help either.

There’s only like 5 people who post things and the mods can be just as bad as reddit mods. Post something and get banned from 25 communities.

    Need me to keep going?
