460 migrants for 80 million? What’s that, 173k per person? It would cost less money to pay for them to be set up well to, you know: help the economy, contribute to the pension of the aging population.

Hell, just give them the money directly to go somewhere else lmao.

That is one of the most bizarre things IMO: even to a right-wing populist it must be apparent that immigration to European countries is an objective necessity for the economy

I think your mistake was expecting rightwing anything to make sense. I mean hell, the origin point of these guys is clowns defending Ancien Regime France*; pushing for economically suicidal policy in worship of power is par for the course.

        *Oversimplified for the meme.

I think the fault in your logic is glaringly obvious here :)

From the various experiences people close to me made with the German apparatus. If a refugee or migrant stands behind them, they would ram a sword through their own belly as long as the tip pinches the person.

If you are “brown” many parts of German society fall over backwards to make sure that you never ever feel like you are accepted. This includes your children and their children and their children. People whose grandparents came from Turkiye, whose parents grew up in Germany, and they themselves grew up in Germany are still considered “the Turks”.

There is refugees who are kept in a limbo since 30 years including their children. They have to get their status re-approved every three month, being prohibited from ever arriving in Germany, even if the children have been growing up in Germany.

Last year there was a case of a Syrian refugee who got a job offer after finishing his apprenticeship. The office handling refugees and immigrants denied the work permit, arguing that letting him take the job offer would help integrate him and that would make it more difficult to deport him later.

Germans speak of Turks like Americans speak of Latinos, but without having nearly the willingness to offer citizenship.

I’d say it’s not really that bizzare - logically yes, it doesn’t make sense if one is some liberal always preaching about “le nation” (with anti-immigration basically crippling economic growth), but it’s a good move when we’re talking about opportunism. A lot of people nowadays are reactionary, you can sway a lot of them to vote for you or continue supporting them if you commit to xenophobia, fearmongering and so on.

“Immigrants are taking YOUR JOBS and will make you UNEMPLOYED, so vote for me to get them all out and give the jobs to national volk!” “Immigrants are all CRIMINALS, look at this one crime they committed so vote for me to get the vile scum out!”

First you list all the issues people have. Cost of living, housing, energy prices, unemployment… The left generally doesn’t like to talk too much in these concrete terms so it draws a crowd. People like it when their life’s struggles get acknowledged. Get them people really riled up for the reveal.

Then you pull out the hate speech and blame it all on migrants, other races, women, gays, furries, the poor, the lazy, the left, … Hating and banning their favorite group gets sold as the one stop answer to all their problems.

It never works, but it’s a good time to get rich and get power for as long as it lasts.

“Die Linke”, literally “The Left” is a German party which did exactly that. During the last election cycle they focused on all these points, specifically on the housing crisis and released an app where you can compare your rent to see if it’s against the law. After years of not making the 5% mark, Germany’s threshold to join the parliament, they got in! They “only” got 9%, but it’s a start.

And that’s just the direct costs to the police. The indirect stuff, supply chain issues, waiting times, etc. aren’t even included.

It’s like always with right wing/proto fascist politics: optics over function.

For real though, “You can’t stay here, but we’ll buy a ticket for you to literally anywhere on earth” at the very least would be infinitely better, cheaper and more humane

To be fair, the dark figure must be far higher and without trying to find them or making it legal, it will be more again. So at the end this will still be cheaper overall, but of course without immigration it can’t work long term.

        No. That’s the official number.

The “controls” are extremely sparse in reality. So they’re only getting the honest refugees and stupid illegals. The former shouldn’t be rejected, the latter wouldn’t have caused much harm anyway.
