Mongols (and Turks) usually picked up new cultural ideas and technology from people they conquered and tried to use them for their own gain. Some even converted to the religious beliefs of the places, which is why islam is so common in central asia.
Now this is !tenforward@lemmy.world material!
Also, as an ethnic turk, the biological distinctiveness part goes hard. If we’re from central asia, how come we don’t have monolids? also, I made a child with a person in the region I migrated to, doubling down on the biological distinctiveness part.
Conquered People: “Can we be Mongols?”
Mongol Warrior: “No.”
Conquered People: “Can the Mongols be us?”
Mongol Warrior, suddenly wearing the national dress of the conquered: “Yes.”
So, Mongols (and Turks) are the origin of the Borg? But that’s the wrong quadrant!
