Six weeks ago, I was elected to Congress. I’m still waiting to be sworn in.

House Speaker Mike Johnson’s recess of the U.S. House of Representatives during a time of grave national crises is shockingly irresponsible. House Republicans have been on vacation for six weeks while our economy crumbles, federal workers go without paychecks, health care premiums skyrocket and funding for food stamps dwindles. This is negligent and cruel.

Honestly, after Republicans refused to vote for a SC nominee for nearly an entire year, this just feels insignificant.

Your argument appears to be that because they’ve done something in the past that you perceive to be worse, continuing misdeeds are no big deal. I don’t think you’ll find many people who will agree with that.

There’s not many people on here that are willing to hear “the other side isn’t behaving unreasonable in this one instance” about any issue.

I’m fairly progressive, but the amount of “⬆️:us ⬇️:them” on this site is pretty stupid.

You’re the lowest of the low, a genuine bootlicker. You’re a coward and conspirator with Epstein.

Wow, I might have found the most neurotic person on Lemmy. It was fun reading all those comments, fully grasping your mental gymnastics. So, yes, echo chambers can be common on social media, but it may also be just as common to accuse through a mirror. I must ask you, personally, what kind of political environment are you surrounding yourself with that excuses the GOP and likens its actions to Dems? As a bonus question, what’s your opinion on Bernie Sanders?

Look at my comment history if you want to see my opinion on things like Bernie Sanders. I love him and AOC. I think Mahmdani is the greatest politician I have seen since Bernie.

And yes, when you step outside an echo chamber you realize people are capable of a wide variety of opinions. What I have found most obnoxious about Lemmy is the hive mind mentality. It is SO much worse than Reddit ever was.

Progressive is always good. Dem is sometimes good (gotta be careful). Republicans always bad. If you follow us his formula, you will have great success on Lemmy. If you want to give true honest opinions, you’re going to be called a stupid dumb shit fascist troll. The opinion I gave is literally not even that extreme, it is not negative enough about republicans for the echo chamber.

Well yeah, dem is sometimes good, we remember Blagojevich, amongst a few others. We can’t deny that humans with power are tasked with a delicate balance of maintaining their power and not reaching for more, like an addict. At least agree with me, and likely the group, on this; power is the worst addiction known to man, worse than meth and crack combined.
