If it works for you then it works.
A nurse taught us this trick when my wife was pregnant and had to get regular blood draws. Every time you’re about to get jabbed, tap-tap yourself on the forehead. Even better if somebody else does it. Nurse said our brain would get distracted processing the visuals of the hand, the bonk bonk sound, and the touch sensation. It would end up ignoring the jab sensation until it was too late.
It really does work. My kid used to freak out about getting his shots. Then I’d have him sit on my lap and do that. Worked like a charm. After a while he started requesting it.
Just a gentle finger drumming on the forehead.
“I passed out while drawing blood” sold immediately ring alarm bells on the phlebotomist to put her laying down for this. Falling with a needle on your arm can cause serious injury.
I full on passed out getting a vaccination in college. Was sitting in one of those attached desk chairs, woke up on a gurnee rolling down the hall.
