obvs to varrying degrees, but there are so many other media, even online like podcasts, researchers, on the ground reporting, essayists, etc

Just sucks how the political streamer is now legitimately where people get their politics now. There are some humble ones but I swear, like the drama around destiny, they create drama amongst themselves to keep themselves relevant. Its incestuous and makes it feel like they are really just blowing each other off for the views.
yass. It’s exactly that drama-seeking that causes such a big problem. It gets views but in the end it’s using the same social exploits as rap beef or reality TV to address complicated and dangerous topics. I do believe it’s positive when people at least wake up to that, even if their media consumption doesn’t immediately change. :)

I’ve heard about the texting minors stuff, but haven’t seen any proof. I have only seen his stuff in the last year or so watching political debates/streams and he definitely doesn’t defend genocide, so I question the other criticisms as well.

I’ve never watched the dude, and prior to today, don’t know that I had heard the name. But how do his crimes change the fact that his research is thorough? All the person above you said is that he researches well, not sure how that would be a controversial opinion to have of someone. And if its not clear, im no fan of the dude, and if hes guilty hopes he’s put away.
He wont be “put away.” The person they are claiming was 17 has never been identified. All his logs and everything has been tied up in a revenge porn lawsuit hes been battling for like 8 months. He gave everything to his lawyers because he wanted the police to look into it.
