I read the books over a decade ago, and recently I have been re-watching scenes from the movies. The books had plenty of material to work with and, with the right creative team, the show could escape the YA-esque nature of the films. Andor proved that it is possible.
Characters like Cinna for example.
Despite Cinna’s death, his designs remained crucial to the rebellion. Likely knowing his death was unavoidable with the incoming war, Cinna had already designed her mockingjay uniform, secretly designing it in the few weeks before the start of the 75th Hunger Games and gave it to Plutarch Heavensbee. The Mockingjay uniform was concealed as Katniss’s wedding dress requested by President Snow, which transformed after becoming ignited when Katniss began twirling on stage.
Season 1 could run alongside Catching Fire, and culminate with the rescue at the arena. Future seasons can cover the rebellion itself.
If it’s as good as Andor, sure, although I’m skeptical that it would be.
I have never read any of the books. I really enjoyed the first two Lawrence Hunger Games movies, so I would check this out.
Yeah, could work, but requires the right people to pull it off. The latest book “Sunrise on the Reaping” had some bits about the rebellion that were going on in the capitol during Haymitch’s Hunger Games. I’m sure they’ll turn that book into a film and I hope they don’t mess up those parts.
