The biggest thing to understand here is that these three guys are just the ones we hear about. For every three people who come out and say this stuff, (the quote in the screenshot is actually the least crazy of all the things they say) there are more than are keeping it secret. And for every person keeping their Nazism secret, there are tens more that aren’t quite Nazis, but are still very racist and bigoted. As a society we must absolutely cease tolerating these people. Some people have argued it’s better to have them be unafraid to express their views so that then we at least know who they are. I wonder that too sometimes, but overall, I think I’d rather they be shamed into shutting up and keeping it to themselves.

Just incredible. I think these people are too stupid to understand how stupid they are.

In his interview with HuffPost, Fears tried to distance himself a little from the scene around him. He said of Richard Spencer, “I agree with like 75 percent of his ― he’s not ― he’s kind of a scam artist, in my opinion.” Asked if he identified as alt-right, he said: “I try and deny identity politics. That’s why I’m not wearing a white polo and all that stuff.” But he also served up a word salad of white grievance: “Like, OK, for one thing, say, you know, gay marriage, that’s cool, whatever, you know, except — that’s fine, I’m cool with it — well, then, what’s after that? The next step? This whole transgender movement, right? Well, if you don’t accept that, you’re a bigot, this and that. Well, that all goes hand in hand with being a white person.”

Asked about the pin he was wearing during the interview, Fears said “it’s basically just like an SS thing.” Explaining the significance of the pin would require an extensive conversation about World War II, he said. “And it’s my heritage, I’m German.”

Nah they’re just Nazis and they’re fucking around. I mean like yeah they’re really stupid but they know what they’re saying here. He says gay marriage is cool except that then you have to accept transgender people too (which isn’t even necessarily connected to gay marriage anyways) - but the implied conclusion is that because you shouldn’t accept transgender people, then you have no choice but to reject gay marriage as well. So he’s talking like he’s cool with gay marriage, but in reality he isn’t. When he says it’s his heritage, he’s trying to use the language of the left against them - saying that because this is his cultural heritage we have to accept it. He’s just not saying he’s a Nazi outright because he doesn’t need to, that’s what the SS pin is for. The strategy of Neo-Nazis is to create confusion and ambiguity around who is and isn’t a Nazi, to disorient their enemy. Same as every other bad thing we see today. It’s not about not having concentration camps, it’s not about keeping them secret, it’s about publicizing it and wrapping the public up in a haze of sophistry and definitional confusion about “what is a concentration camp, really?” Dog-whistling used to be done to operate in secret, now it is done to create plausible deniability and confusion that makes it difficult for others to organize against them.

Very good point - oddly enough I was being too charitable by calling this guy a fucking idiot.

Love how he tries to defend his racism with his ‘heritage’ as if that were the only thing Germans are known for

Man could have chosen to be inspired to be a poet or scientist, some great thinker, instead he’s just a Nazi shithead.

I was gonna mention Falco, but he’s Austrian… Are the cultural differences large enough that he cannot but counted as part of the “Germanic folk”? There’s at least one famous Austrian widely considered German, lol.
