I thought most of Grindr was more or less that expectation. Hey, you’re hot, and if you think I’m hot too, let’s meet up tonight. Here’s a sample.

    Something like that.

I’m guessing I’m at least partly wrong?

This tracks for how a lot of people use the app, but depending on where you are you can also have some fairly normal (for a dating site) conversations with people as well. I spent a couple months on Grindr despite not being interested in hookups, since it’s a decent way to meet other trans folk in my area. My inbox was mostly dick pics but I also met some amazing people I’m still with several years later!

      You’re totally right.

What I mean is that there are many, many, guys on there that do not even attempt to have a normal conversation. There is no “hey” or “how’s it going?” Just 1-4 unsolicited pics of their junk followed by some creepy message like “show daddy your…”

Women would certainly consider it to be, but the gay community gets to decide their own norms (not laws) and if that behavior is considered acceptable then it flies, otherwise gays can have their own #metoo and fix it.

It depends. You get all sorts. There very much is a “right now” segment of the population.
