    It’s half the fun! Of course, historically, I always run out of steam by the time I get something going and get to making something playable.

      Engine developer here, the hardest part of developing engines is the tooling. That’s why Godot and Unity are where they’re today.

        Oh, no doubt about that. I tend to make 2D games as my art skills are beyond embarrassing anyway so 2D map/terrain makers are much easier, quicker, and more fun (to me) to create.
