Well if you want to resign yourself to pessimism that’s your prerogative, but don’t kid yourself that you’re any different from the whining American leftists you’re complaining about.

There are several leftist groups that have really ramped up their organizing. The PSL is explicitly building a Marxist vanguard party, the DSA has seen dramatic membership increases, and more.
A successful revolution doesn’t need a majority of the population to support it if the organization and strategy is there.
It takes time to organize resistance amongst a pacified and stupefied populace. Unless you are suggesting lone wolves start shooting randomly, only to be immediately captured or killed by the state, effectively ending their resistance?
AI makes people more productive, so companies will use AI to replace people. It literally never works out that the new technology means we have to work less. Like, in a vacuum, AI is cool as hell, but in the context of a real world, we should all be fighting against its rapid deployment with tooth and nail.
(and we haven’t even gotten into the environmental impacts… which are relegated to a footnote as always these days.)
AI in the context of late-stage capitalism and the beginnings of global ecological collapse is terrible for everyone except for the people who own it.
You know it’s ok for everyone to dislike a thing if the thing is legitimately terrible, right? Like dissent for dissent’s sake is not objectively desirable.
You’re right, every new technology displaces some jobs, but AI is on a vastly larger scale (as was industrial production technology).
As to your last question, it’s because the people controlling the narrative don’t want to pay for unemployment benefits, industrial retraining, or anything else that doesn’t immediately make them more money.
I agree with almost everything you say, except you are ignoring that capital bribes workers in the imperial core with a superior quality of life to maintain a compliant populace to provide a bulwark against the “slavering masses.”
It sounds like you’re anti capitalist and fairly well educated, but it’s a straight up lie to say that capitalism hasn’t increased quality of life for imperial core workers over that of global south.
You keep harping on about impoverished Brits as if the poorest Brits aren’t still more wealthy than 90% of the world’s inhabitants.
Like I get it, life is hard for poor people everywhere, but everyone in the imperial core benefits from western dominance. I’d much rather be poor in London than in Mumbai.
Where do you think your cheap clothes, devices, food, energy, transportation, etc. comes from? Today’s globalism is a direct descendant of colonialism. In fact, many people even call it neo-colonialism.
Tesla knows immediately when one of its vehicles crashes because the vehicle sends Tesla HQ a detailed crash report that it then deletes from the car’s local storage. Wish I was making this up.
It’s worse than that. Wealth inequality is inevitable in any system that allows private ownership of the means of production. Marx wrote about this in great detail.
That’s a bit of a false analogy because radio never threatened to take away millions of people’s livelihoods.
A more apt comparison would be the actual Luddites during the Industrial Revolution who smashed machines because massive amounts of people were being turned off the land and their traditional economic activities were unable to compete with machine based production.
People don’t just hate AI because it’s new, they hate it because it will condemn millions of people to poverty while making a handful of rich people even more rich.
It’s nice to know the mods here think that states that do genocide deserve to exist.
The eradication of a state is not genocide. Israelis could choose to live under a Palestinian government or they could go back to Eastern Europe where most of their ancestors came from. Either way, Israel has shown itself not deserving of existence.
FYI, in the fifties the CIA wrote a memo where they stated that claims that Stalin was autocratic were largely exaggerated and the USSR largely had collective leadership.

Asking ChatGPT isn’t research.
That’s why they’re focusing on organization right now, to build up the power to lead a revolution. Obviously there is no successful revolution right now, it needs to be built.
