What could possibly get worse?
Oh sweet summer child…
This wasn’t targeting Americans or Israelis.
Regardless, wanting hundreds of millions of people to live in fear due to their nationality is fucked up. This kind of attitude challenges my faith in humanity.
Fear brings hate. Hate brings violence. Violence brings death. Violence and death bring fear.
The way to break the cycle is creating safety by removing violent actors, fostering compassion and combating hate.
That definitely depends. On the one hand there are some pretty delicious jewish cultural dishes, and I know some Jews who are religious and stick strictly to kosher diets have a hard time with the taste of pork after not eating it for a long time (a bit like vegetarians with meat). On the other hand, bacon though…
No problem. Hope you found the answer informative :)
Because people target them based on their religion/ethnicity.

I’d be afraid that the food had been tampered with. It isn’t even something that I’d considered until I saw this post, but there is actually a huge degree of implicit trust involved in eating a meal prepared and handled by someone else.
This meal was targeted specifically because it was labelled kosher, because it was expected that a jew would be receiving it.
The message itself isn’t anti-semitic, but the targeting is, and there are many actual anti-semites out there who want to cause real bodily harm and/or death to jews.
How do you think a muslim or palestinian would react if their halal meal had been tagged with the note “never forget october 7” or something similar?
Is it because I’m (probably) autistic?
No, it’s a basic human decency thing. No man I know would (intentionally) touch without invitation (whether verbal or body language) and if someone does they deserve a smacking.
The most common gray area is tight crowds where some assholes try to get away with groping disguised as “accidents” which is disgusting.
Besides, alcohol and drugs are no excuse. If you can’t control yourself under the influence, don’t use them.
Actually terrifying. Wouldn’t eat the meal. This is exactly the kind of reason that most European jews hide their identities.
First time I’d seen it used as a verb and yet is made complete sense. Language is a wonderful thing.
Heck it even looks like some of those crashes that make you go “heh wonky physics” (the roof fold)
Ice@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Looking to change to a Linux-based OS on a laptop, but I don't really understand coding so I haven't tried any of them. Is LinuxMint a good place to start?61·6 days agoMint is a great starting point. I might also recommend having a look at KDE (the desktop environment) which will feel very familiar coming from windows and is available on quite a few distributions. I use it with OpenSUSE Tumbleweed - less beginner friendly than Mint, but still an ok plafe to start.
People being fine with higher taxes is a function of a trustworthy system where tax money actually goes to spending that benefits the tax payer.
If the expectation is that the funds get misplaced/pocketed/diverted along the way your average citizen will be far more willing (and view it as far more morally justifiable) to make efforts to avoid/reduce paying taxes.

For instance about a year ago we found a new product in the cheese aisle, slightly cheaper than regular gouda and called “gaudina” - turns out, not actually cheese but instead made from milk powder, palm oil and other assorted stuff.
Until somebody proves through proper trials and reviews that the products have no statistically significant difference in health outcomes, I’ll be hesitant.

HR is a scam - if you’ve an issue go to your union rep instead, that’s why we have them. If you live in a country w/o them, get some.
Idk how much is “much” but I was way less active on there than I am here. Just the handful of top posts I’ve made in the fediverse on this account already surpass 8 years I frequented reddit.
