What is the definition you are using?

“You’re strawmanning me!”
Okay. Is the point of that comment that political assassinations of non-violent people should never happen?
What does Popper mean by “defend a tolerant society”? What do you think people should think when you post that now in a thread about a political murder?
Do you disavow the murder of Charlie Kirk?
Do you think it was immoral?
Kirk believed in a constitutional republic and Presidential elections. He was also, due to being a Christian, positionally anti-LGBT but not antagonistic to them. This position is hardly something new. He welcomed them into his movement and has plenty of gay fans. He held classically right wing positions which some may find objectionable but nonetheless cling fervently to a liberal world order. Fascism is inherently anti-liberal.
Who’s somebody on the right that’s not a fascist in your view? The craziest thing is that people are calling him a Nazi when one of the biggest goals of his organization was to stake a big tent and prevent people from being radicalized. He was a “constitutionalist” milquetoast conservative. With him being killed now his audience will certainly go further right.
There are also plenty (arguably way more) that are lefties that hate Trump’s guts. What’s your point?
I’m challenging the certainty of this entire site. My personal opinion is that he is a broken product of a nihilistic culture. I also think that he hated Charlie because he thought Charlie hated gays even though he was a big tent conservative that was inclusive for all. What people don’t understand is that Kirk WAS the moderate conservative.
What is the difference between center-right, right and far right in your view?
He was born and raised in a Christian conservative family. In a religious conservative state.
The origin story of many gay people or future political leftists.
Gay hate can only really exist in an environment without gay people, same thing for people who hate trans people.
Assertion. It’s like saying you can’t hate men unless you grow up in a society without them. People hate all kinds of people for all kinds of reason. This argument doesn’t work.
Which hate comment are you talking about?
He said Kirk was spreading hate.
I believe there’s a lot of conservatives out there who would be willing to kill someone on their same side for not being extreme enough.
What you believe has nothing to do with what is true. There is no evidence that he thought Kirk wasnt extreme enough. In fact his hate comment indicates it could be the opposite. (e.g. that he saw Kirk as a Nazi that needed to be killed)
that’s just a fact
Should be easy for you to prove beyond any shadow of a doubt right now then.
Do those words mean you support the assassination of someone who was non-violent but expressed disagreeable viewpoints? That’s not very tolerant.
By this standard anyone who supports such a thing should also be assassinated. (Note: anyone can define anything anyway they want to justify this)
This is why the paradox of tolerance is a stupid, poorly camouflaged advocacy for political violence.
Just own up to saying you want to kill your political enemies. It’s more honest.
You could be characterized the same way.
You can actually. I suggest using this website: www.google.com
It’s starting to look like it was.
So how do you know he’s right wing?
Edit: Also how do address the hate comment? And justify him killing Kirk for not being far-right enough?
His Mom said he had become more political lately. Specifically left-leaning, pro-gay and pro-trans. He left a note for his trans roommate that he was going to assassinate Kirk. He said that he “Had enough of Kirks hatred” in his discord chat and inscribed pro-trans, gay and antifascist rhetoric on the bullets.
How is any of this right wing?
The irony of this comment.
You still use a calendar. It’s called the Gregorian calendar after Pope Gregory XIII. The year is 2025 because Christ was crucified 2025 years ago. You and the entire world use a Christian calendar every day. Also life begins at conception.
He didn’t say he was liberal I’m saying he was inherently classically liberal because of his views on the constitution, individual rights etc. He believed in representative democracy (e.g. a republic).
Again I implore you for your definition of fascism.
“Othering” isn’t fascist. It just is. We are the society we are because we are not the society we aren’t. This is the case with any group. If not being cool with literally everything makes you a fascist then everyone is fascist. He’s right to question why we send so much money to Israel that’s just having a brain. I guess AOC is a fascist too because she is anti-genocide.
I don’t know what youre talking about in the last part but everyone lies with statistics all the time. If you found statistics to counter that statement you’d be lying. When it comes to statistics “lying” is often times simply an interpretation or spin you disagree with. Of course some one can tell a bald faces lie but I haven’t seen that with him.
If he was just doing what got him paid that doesn’t make him a fascist it makes him a grifter. A fascist is an ideologue with a very specific non-liberal worldview. He was an egalatarian that wanted to settle differences through debate. That is a far cry from someone marching around in jackboots looking for a victim.
