I can’t seem to recall a time when presidents advertised themselves outside of an election cycle.

It’s had me thinking a lot about the tolerance paradox. Where exactly is the line? How should it be handled? Will we get better without violence? Is violence necessary to fight back against dangerous ideas? Who should be the ones holding the line against dangerous ideas? What could we have done differently to ensure we didn’t get here? Will we make any changes or learn anything from this? What duty do we have to protect the marginalized communities that this kind of speech affects?

I’ve certainly drawn some conclusions of my own pondering this, but I still have plenty of unanswered questions.

I just wanted to say thanks for putting your thoughts out there like that. You hit the nail on the head. You aren’t alone in feeling that way, and summed it up in a way that I couldn’t quite put my finger on myself.

Letting them continue to do this with no resistance leads to actual consequences for all of us. I don’t know what the right answer here is, but it’s certainly not to sit idly by and watch it happen.

Washington CAN do something about it. Remove the masks. The more they mask up, the more people should as well.
