Iceshrimp and Sharkey are forks of Misskey with more features. Are they still able to federate with it? How does Misskey federation work?

And if they make a tourist trip, they are not allowed to work so much. But yeah, employing truck drivers with EU passports is a simple and good solution to the problem, so it’s not a huge thing. Also, if the British truck drivers lose their job because of not having an EU passport, they can move to an EU country and work for a truck company there. That way they get a stay permit, allowing them to spend 365 days out of 365 in EU if they so wish!

I’ve hitchhiked from Finland to China and onwards to India.
And then of course shorter trips, such as many trips between Finland and Spain. Etc.

In a small town I’d assume you’d just walk, though. Depending on how you define “small town”, of course! Or alternatively, take a taxi of some kind. Or have your friends ferry you around?

Does the Pixelfed app then not show the grid well enough? What is the problem you are trying to solve?

Only admins the instance where the community is hosted is able to nominate mods to a modless community.

Other instances’ admins can’t do anything about it.

There are people (mis)using Discord for something more akin to forum conversations, though. But indeed, chatting is not something you can replace with PieFed.
