8 days agoIt annoys me when people say she is not as populist as feared, based on that she is supporting Ukraine and not anti-EU, while in Italy she is pushing hard against migrants, asylum seekers, and the LGBTQ+community.

Note that they agreed on this almost a decade ago[1]. Whether or not it is about Trump, I am happy about greater independence for Europe, too! There is also Galileo (GPS alternative) and IRIS2 (for governmental, business, and private communication. Sort of an alternative to Starlink) and a few others out there[2].

I don’t think anyone is doubting that, the real question remains whether the US will keep cooperating.
The EU already has qualified majority on some issues. Also this has nothing to do with veto, but postponing implementation of a regulation that already is agreed upon.
I’ll add to agree that I’d love to see more things to require qualified majority instead of unanimity.
If this is a compromise to get states on-board (so they can keep their national armies), I’d consider it a promising start.

Giving in to the far-right will only lead to the nomalisation of dehumanising immigrants and asylum seekers. Maybe they should try reducing the wealth-gap instead of blaming a small group of vulnerable people.
