Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Looking for a selfhostable chat service that people on phone and computers can log onto
7·8 days agoNot quite sure what kind of privacy you need, but matrix is reasonably easy to self host, and allows you to federate if you want.
Also has plenty of clients.
If you want low tech, hosting IRC is easy too.

Programmer Humor@lemmy.ml•If political issues had issue trackers...Deutsch
6·19 days agoYou know, I think it could have merit to have politics more transparent. Being able to see which person / lobbyist proposed and got which exact changes in, that would be very enlightening.
Also getting the discussions that happen behind the scenes out in the open… I would like that. Never mind the flame wars.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Democracy is the best form of governance but we use dictatorship for our forums. Is this for efficiency? Control? Something else?Deutsch
9·2 months agoVery few dictstorships allow you to leave at will. That ability to Build up your own Community on equal terms is quite un-dictatorial.

From 8b I wouldn’t expect much besides basic language skills, but 70b might be better than ChatGPT 3.5

Open Source@lemmy.ml•Get a quick overview of some of the new features in LibreOffice 25.8 ❤️Deutsch
1·3 months agoThe project probably welcomes a bug report for that….
Out of all the ways that I have tried in the past, to reproduce not just the initial state, but also the ongoing changes of a disto (ansible, saltstack, chef, bunch of Shell scripts) — nix is by far the shortest. With all of these technologies I would never have dreamed to do this for a single Maschine. But now it’s not only possible, but actually gasp enjoyable!
Mind you, if that is not the problem you want to solve, maybe install just the nix package manager in addition to your distribution, and learn to enjoy it without having to run your whole distribution this way.
Sadly about the only thing that reliably helps against malicious crawlers is Anubis
