  • Growing up, I was of the mindset that I would have got married and started a family by this point in my life. But as of the last few years, my thoughts have done just about a 180.

Even if I was currently with someone/married, I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t want to raise kids in this day and age in the US (the bullet dodged me when my ex-girlfriend used plan b after we got intimate without protection). I think best case scenario for me now would be DINK, but gotta find someone that can put up with my dumpster fires first.

  • Dang that’s awesome. If I were in NY I feel like I would exceed that 12 ride limit & get free rides within the first day or two hahaha.

I used to live in Japan (in the rural north) and for a time I was also in Tokyo. Their public transportation infrastructure, while intimidating and maze-like (bullet/local trains, buses, the metro) I quickly fell in love how convenient and smoothly things ran. With a suica pass I would actually get on trains with no real destination just to enjoy the ride hahaha (and the a/c).

  • Ahh was wondering where the factor of 1000 came from.

Without turning into a complete shootout, I can kind of see the point with comparing energy usage, but as others have said with these massive data centers it’s like comparing two similar but ultimately different kinds of beasts.

Beyond just the energy used in training of generative AI models in data centers, there’s also the energy it needs to fulfill requests once implemented (24/7, thousands of prompts per second).

Aren’t there many content creators that do something very similar to that? They might not get paid like those using a platform like onlyfans, but they use their social media presence to post suggestive content and I guess make money through advertisers/product promotion, so it should definitely be possible for you too. Maybe the only real hard part would be growing your fan/user base while staying anonymous? Idk, but best of luck!

  • As a Windows and Mac/iOS user, this is great to see. I tried switching to Linux a few different times over the years but it always seemed out of reach with its complexities, community gatekeepers, and lack of (but vastly improved and still continual improvement with) game/steam support.

With these educational mini-games though, I may give it another shot soon! Then the only real hurdle will be figuring out how to get Linux to play nice with my gpu (rtx 4000 series). I read that Bazzite is the way to go for gaming but I see that it’s still not quite working properly with my gpu, but maybe there’s something I’m not aware of?
