Plasma has improved A LOT in the past year. Like a year ago I hated it. now? I daily drive it. I hate to use this phrase but everything just works.

I was kinda disappointed with the 6.6 release as I really just want dedicated virtual desktops per monitor but their compromise actually isn’t that bad. I just had to turn off animation for changing workspaces and it’s fine. Even tiling works A LOT better on Plasma than it used to and dare I saw kinda works better/is more smooth than Sway and the like and I’m not even using krohnkite. you can quickly toggle the splits for windows and even do vim style navigation between windows. you can even do vim navigation with windows that aren’t tiled.

Plus the stuff they have packaged in is just better than most alternatives out there. I love Konsole. it has everything I need. and Kate is also a fantastic IDE you can REALLY customize that is slept on by many people. Dolphin is great too. It’s nice having a DE that just has all the stuff you need right out of the box and you don’t really have to change any of the defaults.

in the US at least they have to keep information of all their talent that they use to produce content for a law called “2257”. Essentially what would happen is if we were doing photo sets or videos before the content there would be a couple photos or short video of the talent holding their ID to the camera. We’d then take that stuff and put it into a DB and if need be file it with the US government to comply with 2257. Basically this just ensures that the talent is of legal age. For one company I worked for we literally had two ladies that spent every day all day filing this information and sending it off. Because of this they were also the ones that would approve if we could use the content or not.

So you can now safely guess how Grok was able to get access to this info. For whatever reason Grok, and X (probably via DOGE) has access to the 2257 database. Why it would need/want access to this? well…come on we know the reason.

This winter has just been bleh. Even today we’re at like 5 degrees in Toronto. I was just outside sunny, beautiful. there’s no point. I tried the free trial of youtube premium cause i’m on Qutebrowser and the adblocking isn’t the greatest. even with Premium i’d still randomly get ads every now and then. IF i were paying for it I’d be pissed.

Now I circumvent this by just opening all the videos in MPV.

As someone who has to deal with LLMs/AI daily in my work in order to fix the messes they create, this tracks.

AI’s sole purpose is to provide you a positive solution. That’s it. Now that positive solution doesn’t even need to be accurate or even exist. It’s built to provide a positive “right” solution without taking the steps to get to that “right” solution thus the majority of the time that solution is going to be a hallucination.

you see it all the time. you can ask it something tech related and in order to get to that positive right solution it’ll hallucinate libraries that don’t exist, or programs that don’t even do what it claims they do. Because logically to the LLM this is the positive right solution WITHOUT utilizing any steps to confirm that this solution even exists.

So in the case of OPs post I can see it happening. They told the LLM they wanted analytics for 3 months and rather than take the steps to get to an accurate solution it ignored said steps and decided to provide positive solution.

Don’t use AI/LLMs for your day to day problem solving. you’re wasting your time. OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, etc have all programmed these things to provide you with “positive” solutions so you’ll keep using them. they just hope you’re not savvy enough to call out their LLM’s when they’re clearly and frequently wrong.

KDE is good but please, for the love of god KDE devs, you need to realize that some people…a lot of people actually…use more than one monitor.

Whenever I use Plasma I feel like I spend more time getting my windows arranged correctly across both my monitors with different workspaces. if each monitor had it’s own set of virtual desktops then it would be the perfect DE.

with the amount of times Claude hallucinates solutions I wouldn’t trust it to write my grocery shopping list let alone national defense.

As someone who lives in Toronto they’re a god damn corrupt force that does jack all. it’s a damn weekly thing where you’ll read in the news ANOTHER Toronto cop on paid suspension for something. AND then it’s a yearly thing when the city budget comes up and surprise, surprise TPS asks for more money. And the beauty of it all is that city council isn’t even allowed to debate the amount. they can either say yes or no.

Repeat this every time they offer you a trial, which they will, without verifying that you’ve already had a free trial. I’ve had Nitro for months doing this and have never paid them a dime.

I loved the original Black & White way back in the day but I never really clicked with his other games, even Fable.

I just remember the mini documentary that Tech TV had on him that they would repeat over and over. and even way back then he was getting called out on his over promising for his games. like the original Fable was a fraction of what he promised it would be.

before I made the switch to Linux I never used a terminal. never. hell on Windows I even used a GUI for Git. I used sublime text as my IDE. if it wasn’t a GUI I was lost.

Then I switched to Linux and it forced me to actually sit down and learn the terminal and now…now I have a hard time using GUI’s. If something has a CLI or TUI option then I go for that over a GUI. like everything even my music player and video player. my IDE of choice now is DOOM Emacs. my file manager is Yazi. for Git I either use lazygit or just straight up the command line. but for everything else it’s just so much faster and in the long run easier to just use the terminal.

All that being said if you like GUI’s then hey more power to you and that’s fine. that’s the beauty of Linux. you run your system how you want to and don’t let others tell you otherwise. Hell I know a guy that uses NixOS and doesn’t have anything installed other than git and comma. he runs everything via comma. literally everything.

pretty much. you’ll see it first hand with the vibe coding shit. sure the basics will work but none of it will scale, it’ll be full of exploits, and just garbage all around. But most people simply don’t know better and trust whatever the LLM spits out.

I mean people hail Claude as the best out there but if you know any better and you’ve spent any time with it then you’d know it’s 100% useless. not a single solution it spits out these days is correct. and Claude Code has become noticeably worse.
