While I miss forums and “old internet” in general, reddit-style threads is a zillion times better.

I think what people actually miss is pre-corporate, pre-botted internet, where everything felt more real, personal, and insightful.

There are protests damn near every week… I’ve gone to at least 20 this year

He’s been impeached twice already. What will a third impeachment accomplish? We’ve already shown that it’s just theatrics and he doesn’t give a shit…

I highly recommend finding independent niche website forums (the old school ones) for your interests and joining them.

I used to feel dread when I logged into reddit and saw that someone had replied to something I wrote.

I get that too. I turn off comment notifications now. It’s almost always just some negative basement dweller trolling me.

Less stuff overall and less interesting and active communities

Once you realize that 1) like 80% of reddit is just bot slop and 2) a handful of accounts post the majority of “content”, you kind of don’t care that reddit has seemingly “more active” communities.

I’m a hipster.

Because they cannot compete with the economies of scale, the availability of capital, market power, an exploitable workforce, etc.

It’s like asking why you can’t win at checkers when your opponent is cheating at 4d chess.
