Not seeing how someone so smart is struggling to understand none of my comments have anything to do with reading anything. To me the two red colors look the same. The text that is in the colored background boxes you provided image of is still white text and completely fine to read. All the other text in the image is black font over white background so there is literally zero connection between my comments on color usage and anyone’s literacy level.

It wasnt till now that I even made the connection that they used 2 shades of red for conservative presidents amd blue for the Democrat. I think that it makes the design even more idiotic to prioritize something that is common knowledge when it completely ruins the readability of the graph.
