There was a protest organised to shut the bridge down. Unfortunately the police and council took the protest organiser to court and lied to the court to get the protest cancelled.
I mean – there are only six lanes for car traffic. How on earth should the poor motorists manage? Protesting their natural right to get all the space they want is totally unreasonable. (Yeah, sarcasm …)

There is, but it starts a lot further south and ends a lot further north than this tunnel. It’s more useful for bypassing the inner city area, whereas this bridge is supposed to be for accessing the inner city (by which I mean the main CBD area plus neighbouring suburbs, especially Fortitude Valley). I say “supposed”, because for sure some people are using this bridge to go through the CBD from the north to the south, or vice versa.
