I do know fungi transport resources for trees so it actually would be in the best interest for fungi to distribute resources to other organisms so that resources can flow

      That’s mutual aid.

Profit is more like parasitism: it will use up as much of it as it can regardless of how it affects the supply.

Technically that is profit maximizing, where as profit is just surplus value created. Nothing wrong with profit, profit maximizing at the expense of all else is a recipe for civilization collapse.

In our tree mushroom example, if both organisms grow faster by sharing nutrients than by hoarding, they have both made a profit.

Are you sure you understand the relationship of plants and fungi well enough that you can make such a meme of it? Like there is a clear profit incentive for both of them. And if a tree gets too weak, the fungal symbiont might just turn against it and slowly eat it from the insight. Is this also what you want us to do? Why don’t we just say what is shitty about our human society? Projecting it onto nature doesn’t help us and just makes us feel like some things are “natural” and “unnatural”. But this is really a bad way to view the world and causes harm to yourself or others.

Wut? I think of capitalism as a parasite that mercilessly exploits it’s host until workers are so poor and exploited they finally rebel. Whereas socialism is about mutual aid and symbiosis. Thus the meme. It’s nothing to do with natural vs unnatural, as parasites are also natural. It’s about what sort of existence is wholesome and mutually beneficial vs inherently hateful and exploitative.

Yeah, I agree with what you say, but my point is that this just doesn’t apply to the relationship of trees and fungi. It isn’t wholesome as such, it’s just beneficial to both until it isn’t and then they turn on each other. I wouldn’t want a human society that is only based on mutual aid as long as it benefits everyone and where you turn on your neighbor the moment they are weak enough to be exploited.
