This is one of the things that grates me the most about these kind of discussions. One person is adamant about something and when given proof that they are wrong there is no acceptance or apology.
There are no more discussions where people change their minds, there are only monologues and running away when the conversation does not go the way they want.
Tons of us moved away from .world ages ago, some of the mods and admin team are indeed highly biased.
I don’t want to get into a back-and-forth, just explaining from a 3rd party (former .world, former kbin user) view that the .world team are neoliberal shills who do their best to shape the narrative to support the current status quo.
Your first article is not allowed. It is an opinion piece and the mods would remove it if reported.
Your second article refer a genocide case and doesn’t call it a genocide.
So in both examples you’re wrong.
Websites such as Zeteo and Dropsitenews, which call it a genocide outside of op-eds are not allowed. Websites which lie about the genocide such as New York Times are.
Your first article explicitly breaks the rules and the mods seem to have been sleeping because normally they remove opion posts.
Your second article doesn’t call it a genocide. It mentions a genocide case.
In both cases the MiddleEastEye editorial staff doesn’t call it a genocide. There’s NYT opinion articles calling it a genocide as well. An opinion piece is specifically not by the newspaper.
Here’s what it looks like when editorial staff calls it a genocide
It happens to call the genocide a genocide quite explicitly in one of the subheadings. So far, it’s up.
My understanding is that the mods of that community are a bit unreasonable (not to mention rude) with some perfectly reputable news sources based on the publishing platform used. Specifically I have seen the mods characterize Dropsite and Zeteo as “blogs” 😒🙄 because of using Substack as a publishing platform. This is annoying but from what I’ve read it has a …non-deplorable internal logic that I can tolerate, at least so far. But I wouldn’t go so far as to characterize the community as structurally and intentionally hostile, the way Twitter/X is.
X doesn’t necessarily have a better community. But the amount of censorship is a lot lower and there’s less arbitrary thought policing. (Though there have been reports of European users not being able to see pictures lately.)
Since 2014, the government of the People’s Republic of China has committed a series of ongoing human rights abuses against Uyghurs and other Turkic Muslim minorities in Xinjiang which has often been characterized as persecution or as genocide. There have been reports of mass arbitrary arrests and detention, torture, mass surveillance, cultural and religious persecution, family separation, forced labor, sexual violence, and violations of reproductive rights.
You’re basically doing genocide denial when you equivocate Israel’s genocide with Russia’s war or China’s anti-terrorism campaign. What Israel is doing and we’re all seeing is far beyond whatever you think Russia or China are doing.
The civilian death toll in Ukraine is 15,400, and while we don’t even know the real death toll in Gaza but it might be over 100,000. Israel is systematically starving everyone to fucking death, now children are dying every day of starvation. Israel baits starving people with food and then mows them down with machine guns and bombs. One is a war, the other is a holocaust.
You’re right X has less censorship on genocide.
I’ve been talking about Israeli apartheid and the Gaza genocide in .world communities for months now. What are you talking about?
Do the articles you’re allowed to post call it genocide?
Here are two of my most recent ones, with the word in the title:
I have posted other ones that refer to genocide in the text. I frequently refer to the genocide as a genocide in my comments in .world communities.
So again, what are you talking about?

Because they’re from the server where massacres get renamed to incidents and they get praised as correct reactions. What did you expect?

I responded to him below if you’re curious. They are wrong.

You just moved the goalposts.

Not an allowed source on there as it’s rated ‘medium’ by the Zionist rating site. https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/the-canary-uk/

@lemmy.ml
No .ml has less censorship on genocide than Twitter. Twitter still occasionally removes posts.
Go to your website and ask about the Uighur and Rohingya genocide in China. Bring a stopwatch.
That’s like saying “go and ask about the white genocide in South Africa” and thinking you made a good point.
Also lol at “Rohingya genocide in China”. You people don’t even know what the words you use refer to.
Go to Wikipedia and ask them about the Uyghur genocide. Find nothing.
As for the Rohingan genocide I haven’t seen any censorship of that on .ml coincidentally you can find a Wikipedia page on that.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rohingya_genocide
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Persecution_of_Uyghurs_in_China?wprov=sfla1
Why doesn’t your page say “Uyhur genocide”?
I’ve got “Rohinga genocide” and “Gaza Genocide”. Does .ml run Wikipedia?
I can’t believe liberals are still trotting this stupid shit out while we’re witnessing a genocide happening in Gaza.
Comparing whatever you think is happening in China to the livestreamed holocaust we’re all participating in is disgusting.

Funny, if you mention the genocide in Ukraine on .ml you can get banned.
Which one can you link the Wikipedia page saying Ukraine genocide? Somehow I can’t find anyone saying there is a genocide in Ukraine.
It’s almost like you’re trying to devalue the actual term genocide, which is being committed by Europe and America right now in Palestine.
Bruh.
Civilian casualties in Gaza: >83%
Civilian casualties in Ukraine: 3%
Oh I see, that’s why .ml bans users for talking about genocide in Ukraine.
Is there a genocide in America too right now?
How about in Europe?
Words have meaning. For all its faults Russia kills far less civilian casualties than an actual genocide.
