Streisand effect: the BBC is telling every last kid that VPN is exactly the way to circumvent the prohibition.

Without some deep top ticket populist reforms that very obviously change the lives of everyday people for the better, the angry fascistic no-future conservatives are guaranteed to take over.

But it has to be clear, obvious, immediate and real, and it has to signal there is a future that is worth actually building for. Which is the kind of stuff that for some reason are the stuff that are actually difficult for Liberals to do.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it has to do with what people report.

MBFC says:

Factual Reporting: MOSTLY FACTUAL

MBFC Credibility Rating: MEDIUM CREDIBILITY

I.e., not Low or Very Low in either of the metrics the Rule mentions. So, I don’t see how it breaks the rule.

It happens to call the genocide a genocide quite explicitly in one of the subheadings. So far, it’s up.

My understanding is that the mods of that community are a bit unreasonable (not to mention rude) with some perfectly reputable news sources based on the publishing platform used. Specifically I have seen the mods characterize Dropsite and Zeteo as “blogs” 😒🙄 because of using Substack as a publishing platform. This is annoying but from what I’ve read it has a …non-deplorable internal logic that I can tolerate, at least so far. But I wouldn’t go so far as to characterize the community as structurally and intentionally hostile, the way Twitter/X is.

The thing to remember is that BDS is not a revenge inflicted to punish immoral individuals. It is not demonization and it is not bullying.

BDS is a nonviolent pressure tactic to get the Israeli government to change policies. It is giving an argument to civil society organizations to say “is the apartheid worth it for us?” and “can’t we just be a normal country?”.
