If you think climate change is a hoax, you might believe wind turbines poison groundwater.

because republicans turned climate change/environmentalism into a cultural wedge issue. It’s cool to be pro-fossil fuels and evil/elitst to be a science nerd. (Elites defintiely do not thrive off fossil fuels at the expense of the rest of us.)

it’s also the height of irony that part of the criticism of wind power is out of concern for birds and whales. Do you idiots really want to take a count of deaths per watt generated? Go right ahead.

they don’t give a shit about deaths/watt, they just think it’s a fun “gotcha” argument that they think woke lefies can’t rebut, mostly because they won’t be listening to the rebuttal.

The very petroleum companies the conservatives protect were the ones to create all the climate science that proves global warming was going to happen in the first place. It really is bizzarro land.

They don’t care about facts; I have fought this fight for way too long and they don’t care.

To most anti-progressive/reactionaries/conservatives in the US, windmills represent a “leftist” ideology, they represent an acknowledgement of climate change, and are thus part of the enemy and that’s about as far as it goes. The brain is an amazing tool, it invents stories to reinforce any feeling, even more readily if someone supplies a story, so they cling to the “dead birds” BS because it sounds right and feels good to paint leftists as inconsistent and hateful of the animals they claim to want to protect. It’s not factual, it’s narrative.

If we all got better about trying to fight narratives with new narratives instead of bashing our head against these mindless clams with facts and statistics, we would change the world.

What I don’t understand is why they don’t put these whirly-dos on the wings of planes? Birds getting sucked into the turbines is a huge problem and I hear these things are awesome for wiping out birds. Plus think of how much electricity could be generated with these planes flying all over the place.

Speaking of obvious engineering that has been overlooked by science… Don’t really get why helicopters have giant air fans spinning fans above them, they could just remove them and install cockpit air conditioning

I’m still baffled that all these wealthy fucks aren’t hopping on the environmental bandwagon when there is so much mo ey to be made completely replacing the entire infrastructure if countries.

Are they afraid to make money? Do they just not understand it and can’t see how it could be far more profitable than existing polluting industry?

But then somehow they are fine dumping their wealth into fucking AI snakeoil?

It’s not overly complicated. That energy transition money will always be there waiting. In the mean time, there are better margins to be had continuing to pull resources out of the ground. Once that’s truly tapped out and the expense ratio shifts, so will they.

The AI thing is separate. Those are different people.

Faster returns by gambling on a bubble/grift. Nobody is actually thinking about the future, not for our planet and not even for themselves.

It’s because they alter the jet streams, causing the misinformation and conspiracy theory winds to flow towards high windmill areas.

I know this was a joke but the number of people out there who think that windmills actually “blow” in some way makes my brain want to leap out of my head and hurl itself into the sea.
