Lemmy.ml apparently. When you type B…I…T…C…H it automatically turns to removed. They’re treating you like some kid who can’t handle grown-up words. Switch to another instance if you want more freedom with your choice of words.

Lemmy.ml banned me on my Startrek.website account years ago during the height of my posting. Like when I was posting 20 things every hour or two. Why? Posted some Jimmy Neutron meme about Disney having a first gay character and it being the 14th one this month. Title was like “Can always be the first in China at least for a couple minutes” or something along those lines.

From what I heard from some of the people who worked on .ml behind the scenes, they had to reverse the ban because a bunch of people started asking why there was no new content and other people started to realize it was because I had gotten banned.

Have never posted on lemmy.ml since and don’t bother to interact with the instance at all. I don’t have it blocked because not all users are like the admins but like fuck am I ever adding to that shithole ever again. I thought that was the worst I’d ever deal with from admins… and then I started getting personally harassed by the startrek.website admins across multiple websites and basically forgot about lemmy.ml entirely.

Blocking an instance only blocks you from seeing communities there, it doesn’t block you from seeing users posting in other communities.

So, what are the facts relating to China’s Social Credit System (SoCS)? First, a system does exist, but it is very different from what is imagined by many critics outside China. The biggest disconnect is around the notion of scores. Some commentators seem to imagine that a magic algorithm draws from AI cameras and internet surveillance all over the country to calculate a score that determines everyone’s place in society. In reality, the SoCS is not the techno-dystopian nightmare we fear: it is lowly digitalized, highly fragmented, and primarily focuses on businesses. Most importantly, such a score simply does not exist.

            https://merics.org/en/comment/chinas-social-credit-score-untangling-myth-reality

Classic lib move: dunking on nonexistent “ebil ccp” systems that started off as rumors mere days after the west decided it would clamp down on any semblance of internet freedom - upon a backdrop of rapidly burgeoning fascism and concentration camps. The US State Department has effortlessly oriented you.

Idk if something has changed but I think this is a baseless claim.

If it’s just visual gamification…we’ve sort of already come out against that, since we discourage karma-seeking by not displaying user’s comment and post score totals.

              (Source)

That is a 3 years old comment, but I can’t find anything newer (mostly looking at GitHub) suggesting Lemmy devs have any intention of adding karma

Yeah I pretty much know that, and consider the lack of a karma score a feature not a bug of Lemmy. It’s just the obvious joke to crack on the subject of a social credit score on the fediverse.

Well, there is a type of censorship I guess. Some apps don’t allow people to post bad words like 卧槽,and so on. So people usually abbreviate the bad words to the first letter of each pinyin. So 卧槽 becomes “wc”.

This isn’t just for bad words tho, there’s many online slangs like xswl which means 笑死我了, and many more.

We’re all down to shit on new-deal-capitalism-with-chinese-characteristics, but you realize america’s had this for decades? Getting upset that it’s some uniquely chinese novelty is a little infuriating, as someone who has been doxxed and denied housing by that crap.

growing up with a single mom, an older sister, and a younger sister… there were only a couple word that were never acceptable

I could say shit fuck asshole motherfucker and so on

but the words Cnt and Btch were absolutely unacceptable

I remember one time, I was about to call my little sister a B*tch and I didn’t even know my mom was in the room but before I could even get the word out of my mouth, she smacked me so hard. I was like BUT THEY SAY IT ON TV SO IT MUST BE OK. Yeah that was the day I got a good lesson in how rules work for something and not for other but the rules mom makes are the only real rules you have to follow in life

The level of shit .ml, lemmygrad and hexbear users receive for no good reason leaves me always speechless.

You shouldn’t say b.itch in person, we don’t teach kids to say it, why is it crazy to moderate them?

I actually teach the kids in my life that intent is more important than “magic naughty words,” so they can say bitch all they want so long as they aren’t being hateful. So maybe starting from the assumption that the status quo is reasonable and has merit isn’t the smartest idea?

Might want to consider piefed instances as well, it’s a fediverse front-end not developed by the weaklings that decided to censor your innocuous words.

          I should do that too…

Literally any non-ml instance would be a way better choice. Also avoid hexbear. The rest are pretty solid. I’m happy with speed of Lemmus.org, but lemmy.world worked fine for me too.

I dunno, my queer drama’s always been more interesting. Less basic. Somebodys asks if you’d still love them as a worm, we all know the right answer is ‘I’d worship you, shai-hulud’ 'cuz we all want that spice.

Nah you arent that unique you know. Its the same shit as straight clubs just with less violence and WAY more over the top acting and better writing. Straight guys throw chairs and punches, flamboyant gay dudes throw drinks and slap faces, Its just way more entertaining to be around.

The lesbians on the other hand… that shit was vicious but infrequent. Like dudes brawling but with hair pulling and nails as well.

              and better writing

That. Is. What. I’m. Saying. Not that we dont; that we’re netter written and less repetitive.

the lesbians on the other hand…

So it might just be the fact that im kind of giant, but all my messy break-ups had many-aftershocks psychological shit. No physical confrontation even when my fresh ex was a very generally physical person.

I think we’re pretty much on the same page. The stories were the same “Thats my ex” or “Stop flirting with my girl/boy” or “you think you’re better than me” stuff but the shit talking before things got physical was so much better.

Meatheads get to the punching part too fast for it to be funny. You have enough time to go “Aw fuck…” and it was on. I once saw someone go 5 solid minutes on another persons shoes and it was amazing.
