There is a long precedent in the law of treating trans people as male or female, whichever will hurt them most in the moment. That’s the standard for most conservatives. “We’ll treat you right now as whatever sex would hurt you the most, and we won’t care about being consistent about it.”

This came up months ago (with link to source!), and discussions both at the source & lemmy pointed out that public nudity is legal in the UK.
The OOP or protesters were misguided to think the contrary.

It is terrible how they are treated. They are just people who want to live their lives.
The difference is US police are above the law. In Scotland they would face repercussions for breaking the law.
