Lots of answers but I think the explicit joke here is that grapefruit doesn’t work with certain types of antidepressant medications, which redbull’s clients are presumably on.
The implication here is that a consumer who is inclined to drink Redbull is likely the type of person who suffers from an affliction for which they are prescribed some sort of mood-regulating medication, many of which negatively synergize with grapefruit enzymes.
Isn’t RedBull more associated with clubs and raves (and therefore liberal drug use)? At least that’s how it used to be. RedBull vodka + a couple of sketchy pills and dance until the sun comes up.
I am not a huge fan of alcohol, but an ice cold jaeger bomb (jagermeister and redbull) is tasty af. Has to be ICE COLD tho. Room temp jager bombs suck.
Uh… Why not?
Grapefruit disrupts metabolism by Cytochrome P450 enzymes in the liver. They are widely involved in drug metabolism. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cytochrome_P450

I thought it was the “girl” part since most women of reproductive age are on hormonal contraceptives.
Doesn’t it interact with… I can’t remember if it was ecstasy or some normal medicine
Only thing that came to mind was diabetics can’t usually have grapefruit. Is the joke that redbull enjoyers are diabetic? 🤔
Antidepressants, anxiolytics, stimulants, etc.

And some birth control.
Some statins too
And my axe!
This guy grapefruits
He’s gonna get the juice everywhere though!
I mean that lists off acetaminophen… and it says all citrus juices can do it, so don’t drink juice at all then?
Def drink grapefruit juice if you’re taking e. The extra vitamins help a ton and it’ll extend the high.
Also reduces the toxicity from the metabolites your body makes while processing it. Pretty convenient with all the other good ways they interact

2 minute sci-show answer why it isn’t a good idea to mix certain medications & grapefruit.
Enzymes in grapeftuit can cause some medications in a safe dose to become too effective often in dangerous ways.

Are any of those drugs in Redbull, tho?
