For me it’s not the needle. I have no trouble with vaccinations. But as soon as I lose blood in a medical way (losing blood from injuries isn’t a problem), no matter how little, I get flop sweat and start to get nauseous. The problem is purely psychological and talking to the nurse absolutely helps. I have to lie down though. I’m fairly sure it comes from a traumatic experience when I was a kid. An inexperienced nurse had to poke the needle into my arm several times and had to fill many tubes for whatever reason. She then sent me to the waiting room and didn’t apply any pressure to the plaster. So I sat in the waiting room and blood just ran down my arm like there’s no tomorrow. I almost passed out.

I just use it to whip up a mockup, like a GUI with certain usability features. I’m the one who has to work with highly specific, proprietary software and usability is total ass. But it’s difficult to put this into words that the dev is willing to read through. So I’d rather show it. But that’s about it.

In Germany the countryside often is way worse. Especially in the winter. All of those super old, shitty wood furnaces pumping out fine particles often create a worse environment than on new year’s eve. Farmers shredding their crops, pesticides everywhere, polluted ground water from all the fertilizers, etc.

The 100k Population town I used to live in is way cleaner than the shit I have to deal with just a mere 5km outside of that town.
