  • Unfortunately I do. I’m not sure what else to say. I’ve written a sentence and then deleted three times. I appreciate that it sounds defeatist and that’s not what I believe. I just see too many people complaining about situations they say need fixing without any mention of how they think that can happen. Many of the fixes would be detrimental the the economy because that is ultimately the problem in the first place, that we rely so heavily on it’s structure. There are hundreds of approaches to the thousands of issues we face but if you tried to run for government outlining the hard fixes to pursue, you would be run out of town. I for one plan to be run out of town pretty soon, as soon as my domestic circumstances allow me the freedom to “kick bubble gum and chew ass”. God I laughed at that South Park line.

  • It’s a tough balancing act but yes, we have been selling our morals for economic benefit for years. I don’t know how many people pay attention to this though and those that do I don’t think consider the alternatives. They whine about it but have no appetite for the consequences of not capitulating. It’s really been brought to the forefront with the current U.S. conflict. You’ve got idiots like Doug Ford (I mean that whole heartedly) loving to talk a tough game (he wants to be prime minister) but having no clue what he would do if we really stood up for our beliefs. A good example was his ill considered attempt to stop exporting electricity to the U.S., which he had to immediately back off from. Then you get the recent TV commercial problem in which I have no doubt Carney thought he could use his useful idiot to stir the pot. For someone with no “experience” in politics it didn’t take him long to play the old tired games. I don’t want to just pick on Doug Ford though. This country is chock full of morons.

  • I understand people all too well. My belief is everyone is justified in their approach to life by either genetics or experience and should be free to express and act on these within the confines of the law. But I also believe that to disguise our opposition to some beliefs and to not call out something as “stupid”, which is a very general term that can be ascribed to a variety of demographics, is wrong. I believe in peoples right to free speech, but question the freedom to lie (what is a lie?). I admire and support the efforts to empathize with all people but I also recognize that if those efforts leads to the loss of the battle for freedom and equality then it must be treated as a secondary consideration.
