Yeah I ate it too, not usually, but sometimes good satire is indistinguishable from reality.

I’m fairly comfortable that he isn’t ever able to find peace. What fleeting moments of satisfaction he finds are shoveled into the bottomless pit of his narcissism and forgotten in his sad, insatiable need for more.

I did have a good bunch of fun with this game but sort of burned out as it started to feel like one progress bar after another. Haven’t played since the last DLC though so I wonder if maybe with that and this one it’ll be time again to give it a try.

Tangentially related - I was thinking the other day about how it seems like the rich used to feel obligated (for whatever reason) to use some of their wealth for the good of the world. But can you even imagine a ‘Musk Foundation’ or a fucking ‘Zuckerberg Foundation’? No because they don’t have even an ounce of shame or a shred of conscience. I don’t know what it would even take but I do think it’s far past time for us to start talking, bare minimum, about their obligations to the country and world that gave them so much.

Absolutely agreed and that has been my online experience too. And as far as consensus building - a lot of people don’t seem to understand what it takes to create a coalition that has actual policy power in the USA. And they also don’t seem to understand that when you don’t have a bloc with political power you’re never going to get the respect, much less policy consessions, that you’d like to get.

What is there to work with though? There’s no cohesive movement on the left to speak of so which of the umpteen factions would they start with? We’d need to think and vote as a much bigger bloc for the left to get the kind of representation we want.

I mean you’re totally right, anywhere else in the western world the Dems are a center right at best. But Trump turned the GOP into his party in less than ten years. If we on the left banded together with a common cause with deliberate action we could change the Dems similarly. But instead we’d prefer to fight ourselves.

They are more afraid of the right than the left and we need to change that

The Dems absolutely do use the phrase to manipulate conversation. But it’s also a real problem on the left - it’s one of the ways we divide ourselves into smaller and smaller groups leaving us powerless to actually drive policy. I see it happen online every single day.

Oh I should have specified, this is just my own system. I agree, it wouldn’t be fair to apply it to public 5-star systems no matter how strongly I feel like this is the proper way to rate things.

I have a very similar system only from a subjective personal angle:

1. I hated it
2. I didn’t like it
3. It was fine
4. I really liked it
5. I loved it

So most get 3, some get 2 or 4, only the few special ones get 1 or 5.
