Bullshit. At 30 I was only starting to lift and play rugby. Your poor back in overwhelming majority of cases is bad muscle development which can radically improve in a month of simple exercises.

My knees were done by 40 but because of poor running technique more than anything.

Majority of knee and shoulder pains after 30 is also caused by weak supporting muscles

Got any suggestions of exercises? I’m sitting at a desk most of the day, and biking to work, and lifting my kids with probably bad posture, and that’s the extent of my workout life lol

The first good thing that worked for me was learning a proper, gopnik style deep squat. Start with finding your comfortable depth, and hold it down for a 30s…1 min, few reps with a couple min break in between. Put your elbows on the inside of knees and gently push them outward, placing palms in a prayer gesture. Don’t forget deep, diaphragmal breathing. Try to hold lumbar spine in a neutral position, don’t overextend or slouch into pseudo depth. Keep feet flat, try to make sure there isn’t a single spot holding most of the weight (like pushing forward and placing weight on the toes) Eventually as your body adapts, start adding more motion: deep squat and gently roll your ankles. Hold your toes and raise hips until your knees are in full extension, then slowly go back. Try to do Cossack squats. Stretch and gently work on hip abductors and flexors.

Since it’s office work, your neck and shoulders are probably angled forward a bit. Use towel exercises and stretch shoulders, discover mobility range that’s hidden from you.

Most importantly, be honest about your ability. Don’t push it, breathe deep, be gentle and try to relax instead of fighting the pressure.

There are some YouTube channels giving simple but effective exercise advice, like Squat University and Workouts by David. They give decent overview of physiology and related dynamic exercises.

Your 30s are a lot like your 20s, except you get to find out which knee will be your bad knee later on.

In your 40s, you can pretty much do anything you could do in your 20s and 30s.

    Once.

one of the best things you can do for your bones and joints is lifting weights. you dont have to feel old in your 30s, thats a choice you’re making trying to live like your body doesn’t require maintenance.

I did a 5head lifehack where I was shitty and out of shape through my 20s. Now in my 30s I lift and run and have never felt better.

Just, y’know, watch out for injuries. You’re no spring chicken.
