altho it originates from star wars, where it is used for droids, who are basically slaves, which in my eyes makes the whole thing quite messed up if you think about it
I haven’t heard the connection to star wars before, and I kina feel like drawing a connection between droids and black people is even more insensitive. Like, David Cage wasn’t a great writer when coopting the blm movement and mlk in Detroit become human.
about the connection to people of colour, i did not state this connection. i think a reading of the droids as an enslaved and disenfranchised class is very reasonable and even obvious. i can recommend this video by pop culyure detective about the subject: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WD2UrB7zepo.
i dont need to equate the situation of the droids to the real history of human slavery, to be critical towards it or have sympathy for the droids. i can understand, if you dont care about fictional slurs against opressed groups, but i personally dont like using them.
----.,… huh?.,.,.,.
“oomf” is gen z slang for “one of my friends” and “clanker” is the “official slur” for an AI.

Filoni really wanted his war story to be accurate, all the way down to inventing a new slur for soldiers to use towards their enemy.
