The Universal Law of Cities: The more car-friendly a place is, the shittier it is to be there.
Brick walled canals is not a restored waterway.
Either way, it’s better than having a highway.
It is on the top side
That looks so incredibly comfy.
I go there a lot. It’s truly amazing.
Hate to burst anyone’s bubble, but from what I saw this is probably for flood control.
*Confirmed, is flood control.
How is that a bad thing? Still looks like a good place for community meetups and is one less road. Gotta take the silver linings where you can. It’s not like it’s flooded all the time.
I know right? Like…
Stop enjoying this purely functional flood control channel, you crazy people!!?!
So are most public bodies of water. Watersheds play a huge role in both flood management and public nature/wildlife areas and education. Either way it’s 1000x better for everyone than a highway.
There’s no bubble to pop here, it’s a riverside park that double as a flood mitigation canal.
Take for example, Bishan Park in Singapore
The left one is before they turn it into a park, it’s purely for flood mitigation. Then they turn it into a park that would flood in heavy rain. Cheonggyecheon is basically that.
Other way around.
