Not if Dad has anything to say about. He will eat pasta marinara, rice and beans and country steak for dinner so the fridge can be cleared. 🫡
I hate waste. And I’m willing to put my mouth where my mouth is, even if that means I’m having half a breakfast burrito, a bowl of chili, sliced peaches, yellow curry, and microwaved fajita veggies for dinner.
This is the way
Whatever it is, crack an egg in it and it’s breakfast.
Which is why dad is on the road to obesity.
Hi, I’m dad. Eating everyone else’s food to avoid ‘wasting’ leftovers is a tough habit to break. Just throw it out if the only reason for eating it is to avoid waste. Stop making so much waste in the first place.
This is a fine habit IF you don’t also eat a “normal” amount of your own meals every day.
I deliberately skip breakfast and only take a modest portion of dinner so I can finish things off throughout the day. If I get to bedtime and I haven’t eaten enough, I snack to make up the difference.
Ever been told as a kid to finish your food because there’s hungry kids in Africa?
Well, this is dad putting his money where his mouth is. If you can’t send the food to Africa because it would spoil, and you can’t find anyone else around who’d appreciate it (such as a homeless person or an impoverished neighbor), at least you can still avoid letting it go to waste.
As the other guy said, as long as he’s not also eating a whole portion of non-leftover food on top of it, there’s nothing wrong here. Well done, dad.
Because that’s what dads do.
When we had our birds I used to say that food didn’t turn bad in our house, it just slowly turned into chicken food. In your house it turns into Dad’s dinner.
Mom’s spaghetti.
I’m trying really hard to emulate your Dad. In particular with almost-not-good-anymore fresh veggies
All of that sounds really good right now.
As the good lord intended.
We have a little bird in my household.
She will ask for something that “I’ve been craving lately and we haven’t had it in a while”. So, I’ll either make a small batch or buy a small bit from the store. Serve it for dinner, and she’ll eat the very smallest amount that still qualifies as having eaten some and then state “I’ve had my fill”.
Then it sits in the fridge until it goes bad, because nobody else in the house eats it and she’s had her fill or it gets moved into the freezer “for future use” until I clean things out a couple years later and decide it needs to go because it looks freezer burnt and nobody else in the house eats it.
