I work in construction, and we’ve had no new bids come through in the past 2 weeks. That’s never happened before, even during covid. I’ve noticed a lot less positive talk about Trump when I go into the office, though I doubt even this would be enough to make any of my coworkers reconsider their political views.
i noticed our area, residential houses are bougie enough to use white american construction companies, they probably cost a ton more. and the only other POC that does construction usually caters to asian households only.
We have clients all over, and the tariffs have been a point of concern for many of them. It’s gonna hit businesses hard, especially for shit that is only manufactured overseas.
It’s just teams at this point. Trump is just the quarterback that they’re bitching about this season, they’re not switching teams over it.

Maybe I’m dumb, but I don’t why they would willingly bankrupt this country unless theyre just betting against us and look to take full control. I’m not sure what the value of controlling a derelict former superpower country would be.

There are three primary factors at play here.

Foreign actors looking to upset US hegemony. They don’t have to go to war, they don’t have to fight economic battles…just incentivize the right people to do the wrong things at home in the US, and we destroy ourselves. It’s cheap and easy for them.
It’s #2, first and foremost.
Tank everything so the rich can consolidate their power.
We know billionaires, they’ll bitch and moan when their profits haven’t increased as much as they increased last year. They wouldn’t support Trump for his own gains or to appease a foreign agency for any amount of downturn. But to spend money on changing the rules and consolidating power, well, they haven’t spent billions lobbying the government for fun.
This was my take, at least with the soybean thing. Family farms go belly up. Big AG is there to buy up the land for pennies.

I can vouch for this. The company I work for uses a ton of steel and instead of raising prices our conservative CEO has just taken the monthly bonus that each employee used to get. So while our customers are thinking " this isn’t so bad" we are footing the bill by being paid less.

Without a strong government to defend our nation (thanks to relentless lobbying with a fraction of their massive fortunes), it was inevitable that this would happen, as more and more billionaires meant more and more of a chance of at least some of them using their influence to literally take over the world.

Only thing I can think of is if you liquidate funds or suppress them being impacted while taking bribes like that alleged $2 billion in crypto they got, they ride out everything dropping in price living the high life still, then buy up as much as they can on their way out so they own large portions of companies as they get built back up by the next generation. The laborers and will still exists, and they can build it back with these people owning more and having more say in what happens.
Otherwise… Just power. If no one can say shit about you doing anything you want whenever you want and you can treat everyone else like shit… Some people enjoy it greatly I guess.

The value of the dollar is down like 10% from when he took office, so most of that stock market value is the same value but more dollars needed to represent it, not real growth. The rest is mainly the AI bubble - which has nothing to do with him

They are generating revenue from the tariffs but it is not enough to offset the tax cuts and will decrease over time as there are fewer imports.

even though OP is highlighting some losses/tensions, NATO colonies are being conquered hard, and that buys the US empire a few more years of “appearances of existing in a dominant position”. For political purposes, elections, you can point to the complete explicit subjugation of colonies as “winning”. Job losses, interest rates, currency depreciation, inflation don’t matter if you can point to Europe/Canada sycophants doing worse, and paying for entirety US war on Russia. Blame for everything bad goes to someone else, and success measured in relative pace of decline. Make sure no one else is allowed to speak, and third term is secured.

I can’t. Corporations exist to make a profit for their shareholders in the current quarter. Governments exist to protect the people from outside influences such as those corporations. Their goals are completely at odds. That’s why every Republican president is followed by an economic downturn, because they did exactly what a corporation would do, steal from the future to increase profits in the present and then funnel those profits straight to the top.
They don’t need to run the world, they only need to run America. It’s really that simple. Oh and also Krasnov is a foreign agent.
